Results
The result is a competency-based model for the representation of digitalisation in vocational training of construction. The new learning model is an example of how trainees and Bachelor students acquire practical competences for digital building/BIM – such as the use of construction software, the input of data into digital systems and the creation of a Digital Twin.
Matrix of professional competences for digital building
The matrix of competences for digital construction depicts the required digital competences for selected professions in relation to real work processes. A special focus is the handling of BIM applications. Specifically, the tasks in the respective profession are illustrated related to digital processes, the required specific knowledges, skills and competences, as well as transversal IT skills.

Learning units for digital building for use in vocational and higher education
The project develops learning units for dealing with digital processes in construction planning and work for three occupations:
- for skilled construction workers,
- for technical draftsmen / civil engineers and
- for engineers / specialist planners (Bachelor)
The learning units contain a detailed description of the learning contents, concrete learning tasks along typical working situations, teaching and learning materials, processes for the assessment of training success and a presentation of the learning results.

Process proposal for the strengthening of permeability between vocational and higher education
The process proposal shows how competences for digital building are documented as learning results and how they (can) be credited in further education. In addition, opportunities for cooperation between vocational and higher education institutions are shown, which strengthen permeability.

Training course on digital construction for vocational school teachers and trainers
The training course (range 100-120 hours) covers both the content of digitalisation in the field of construction and the didactics for the technical training in vocational education and training. The components are based on the content of the learning units and address, inter alia, basic BIM applications such as the Digital Twin, CAD drawing and 3D, as well as the handling of digital devices in the classroom.

Guidelines for vocational training institutions on handling digital construction
The guidelines gives the vocational training institutions ideas on how the new competence requirements for digital building can be transferred into training contents and implemented practically in the learning process. It also contains information on teacher qualification, technical equipment, cooperation with the industry and other topics.

Recommendations for the design of training in the area of digital building
The recommendations provide insights from the development and testing of the new learning model in the four countries. They are intended to help stakeholders in vocational and higher education – also in other EU countries, to successfully include new technologies (such as BIM) in their own training. Further recommendations are addressed to economic and political/administrative stakeholders – with ideas on how to deal with the highly current topic of digitalisation in vocational education and training.
